Description:
The Office of Sara Jacobs (CA-51) is seeking a Military and Veterans Liaison &
Community Representative to serve full-time in-person in the San Diego District Office.
This role manages a community outreach and federal casework portfolio on behalf of the
office, including serving as the primary liaison to San Diego’s military, veteran, and military
family communities.
Responsibilities:
• Meeting with constituents and local organizations on behalf of the Congresswoman
and briefing the team on outcomes
• Representing the Congresswoman at community events, meetings, and stakeholder
engagements
• Briefing and staffing the Congresswoman for district meetings and events
• Building and maintaining relationships with military installations, veteran
organizations, and community stakeholders
• Coordinating with the District team and Washington, D.C. staff to support outreach
and stakeholder engagement
• Monitoring district issues, community concerns, and relevant local developments
and updating office leadership and the Congresswoman as appropriate
• Working with the District Director to plan and implement community outreach
initiatives
• Preparing meeting and event memos for the Congresswoman’s daily briefing
materials
• Managing a constituent casework portfolio and assisting constituents in navigating
federal agencies
• Supporting district office initiatives and projects, including the Service Academy
nomination process
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have strong ties to San Diego, experience working with service
members and/or military families, excellent communication and organizational skills, and
a genuine desire to serve constituents contacting Congresswoman Jacobs for assistance.
Bilingual ability is a plus. Veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses are strongly encouraged to apply. This is not a 9-5 position and will require the flexibility to work evenings and weekends to
attend community engagements and events.

This position includes a 90-day probationary period. During this time, the employee’s performance and ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the role will be assessed. Employment beyond this period is contingent upon successful completion of the probationary period and the needs of the office. Salary is commensurate with experience.
