Description:
The House Committee on Education and Workforce, Minority Staff, is seeking an experienced Press Secretary.
Responsibilities:
• Assists with developing materials to communicate with the media, including press
releases, talking points, emails, advisories, pitches, media kits, and reports.
• Works with the communications team to identify new ways to engage press and
digital audiences.
• Pitches stories and fields a high volume of media requests related to the
Committee's activities.
• Manages media-relations staffing (e.g., hearings, press conferences, roundtables).
• Stays informed of current issues affecting the Committee and anticipates media
inquiries.
• Prepares the Ranking Member for media interviews (including TV, radio, and print)
and other public appearances.
• Works with key staff to develop and implement a comprehensive communications
and media strategy that promotes the Committee’s policies and priorities.
• Utilizes audio, graphics, text, and other digital media technologies to design,
develop, and implement multimedia content.
• Helps manage all social media channels and web content to ensure all platforms
are adequately maintained and up to date.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Experience on Capitol Hill and/or in fast-paced media environments is preferred.
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud tools (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is
preferred.
