Description:
The R Street Institute—a free-market think tank headquartered in Washington, D.C. and with staff located across the country—seeks a collaborative individual to focus on technology policy research and analysis on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technology issues.Conduct policy-relevant research on cybersecurity issues including data protection, critical infrastructure security, and post-quantum cryptography. Support research initiatives on artificial intelligence policy, including safety, governance, and regulatory frameworks.No particular educational background required—a proven record of achieving results is far more meaningful than credentials. Prior experience in a think tank or policy organization preferred but not required.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct policy-relevant research on cybersecurity issues including data protection, critical infrastructure security, and post-quantum cryptography
• Support research initiatives on artificial intelligence policy, including safety, governance, and regulatory frameworks
• Engage with additional technology policy areas as program needs evolve
• Produce written publications including issue briefs, blog posts, and policy memos
• Assist Senior Fellows with major policy papers, regulatory comments, and testimony preparation
• Provide timely analysis of breaking developments across the technology policy landscape
Qualifications:
• No particular educational background required—a proven record of achieving results is far more meaningful than credentials
• Prior experience in a think tank or policy organization preferred but not required
• Ability to work productively with a wide range of groups and individuals, including those with whom you may disagree
• Experience collaborating across teams, with an appreciation of others’ expertise and experience
• Superior interpersonal skills and a strong team orientation
• Strong writing skills
