Description:
Director, Strategic CommunicationsLead strategic communications planning that supports MEMA’s advocacy and policy agenda. Develop and execute integrated communications that advance key public affairs priorities.7 years of experience in strategic communications, public affairs, government relations, or policy-driven messaging. Bachelor’s degree in political science, communications or business administration, or related field.
Responsibilities:
• Lead strategic communications planning that supports MEMA’s advocacy and policy agenda.
• Develop and execute integrated communications that advance key public affairs priorities.
• Craft messaging and materials including statements, advocacy content, and thought leadership.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on policy positioning, external narrative, and communications risk.
• Mentor and lead a team of communications professionals, driving clarity, accountability, and strategic partnership.
• Create a culture of trust, collaboration, and high performance.
Qualifications:
• 7 years of experience in strategic communications, public affairs, government relations, or policy-driven messaging.
• Bachelor’s degree in political science, communications or business administration, or related field.
• Beltway experience is required (e.g., Capitol Hill, administration, trade association, advocacy organization, or political communications).
• Proven success leading a high-performing team as a player-coach while cultivating a high-trust, collaborative, and mission-driven culture.
• Strong strategic judgment with the confidence to make decisions and enforce priorities.
• Familiarity with automotive, manufacturing, mobility, or other regulated industries is a plus.
