The Office of Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) seeks an experienced Legislative Assistant
in his Washington, D.C. office.
The Legislative Assistant will primarily handle the Congressman's work on the House
Committee on Agriculture, including in his capacity as Ranking Member of the
Subcommittee on Commodity Markets, Digital Assets, and Rural Development, and will
serve as his top advisor on the Farm Bill. The LA will also handle a broad portfolio of other
policy issues, including natural resources (to encompass fisheries and coastal issues), energy and environment, transportation & infrastructure, technology, and
telecommunications, to advance the priorities of North Carolina's 1st Congressional
District. Applicants should have a demonstrated passion for agriculture, rural, and coastal
policy issues.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities are wide-ranging and include, but are not limited to: preparing for and
staffing committee hearings and markups, drafting legislation and amendments, writing
talking points and memoranda, developing legislative strategy, and interacting with key
constituent groups and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will be self-starters and
possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
