The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) seeks a Director of Engagement & Programming to lead the Caucus’ engagement strategy and oversee the planning and execution of programming aligned with CBC priorities.
Responsibilities:
This role will serve as the central coordinator for CBC convenings, including roundtables, briefings, stakeholder meetings, and special events, while ensuring alignment across Policy, Communications, and Operations teams. The Director will also support the coordination and management of CBC task forces and issue-based initiatives, working closely with Member offices, staff, and external partners to ensure consistent engagement, strategic alignment, and follow-through. The Director of Engagement & Programming’s responsibilities will include: • Developing and managing a comprehensive programming calendar aligned with CBC legislative and policy priorities • Planning and executing CBC convenings, including roundtables, policy briefings, listening sessions, stakeholder meetings, and special events • Coordinating with Policy staff to ensure programming reflects CBC priorities and advances legislative strategy • Collaborating with Communications staff to support message development, media engagement, and amplification of CBC programming and initiatives • Working with Operations staff to ensure seamless logistical execution of all events and convenings • Managing relationships with external stakeholders, including civil rights organizations, advocacy groups, faith leaders, labor organizations, and other partners • Supporting the coordination and management of CBC task forces, working groups, and issue-based initiatives, including scheduling, agenda development, and follow-up • Facilitating communication and alignment across Member offices, committee staff, and external partners engaged in CBC initiatives • Developing materials, run-of-show documents, and briefing resources to support CBC programming and stakeholder engagement • Tracking engagement, action items, and outcomes across convenings and initiatives to ensure continuity and impact
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must have an understanding of CBC priorities and experience working with the African American community. Outstanding organizational, writing, and communication skills, sound political judgment, and the ability to work closely and collaboratively with multiple Member offices and external stakeholders are essential. Top candidates should be detail-oriented and possess the ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and operate as a strong team player. This is not an entry-level position. Candidates should have a demonstrated understanding of House and Senate operations and experience managing events, stakeholder engagement, or programmatic initiatives in a congressional, nonprofit, or advocacy setting.
