Description:
A Blue Dog Democrat Member of Congress seeks an experienced, creative, and hard-working Digital Director to join a fast-paced, proactive, and collaborative communications team.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute the Member's digital strategy and content across all platforms, including the official website, in coordination with the Communications Director. Create original, compelling, on-brand, and error-free digital content, including graphics, videos, and multimedia, for rollouts and rapid-response opportunities. Draft content in the Member's voice each day and respond quickly to breaking news. Clip, caption, and post committee remarks, floor speeches, and interviews, and produce content from events and meetings, including photography and videography of the Member. Draft the Member's newsletter, video scripts, talking points, and social content, and translate legislative and district work into clear, engaging digital storytelling. Support proactive media strategy and rapid response, and assist with media preparation, message development, and staffing of D.C.-based events. Help manage the office's franking and constituent communications, including newsletters, e-blasts, and digital outreach, in compliance with House rules.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design, or a related field. Exceptional writing, editing, and organizational skills, with the ability to translate complex policy into clear, compelling messages. Demonstrated experience with social media platforms and tools, including Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, Canva, Kapwing, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar. Strong video editing and graphic design skills, with the ability to create engaging graphics, visuals, and videos. A strong interest in digital media and emerging trends. Detail-oriented, with the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment. Sound political judgment and a working knowledge of the legislative process. A proactive, self-starting mindset: someone who anticipates problems and solves them quickly.
