Description:
The Office of Congressman Johnny Olszewski (MD-02) is seeking a professional, highly organized, and energetic District Staff Assistant for his Towson, MD office. Anticipated annual salary range $55,000-$60,000, commensurate with experience. The
office also provides student loan repayment and other benefits.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for maintaining administrative functions, managing the front
office, responding to constituent requests, and assisting with community engagement
efforts.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Providing a welcoming environment and positive first impression of the office to
constituents, visitors, and key stakeholders;
• Managing the front desk and logging correspondence;
• Handling incoming calls with poise, professionalism, and promptness;
• Overseeing general office processes, such as ordering office supplies;
• Assisting staff in preparing, organizing, and staffing meetings while the Member is in
district;
• Capturing input from constituents for the office’s consideration and response;
• Ensuring constituent casework is distributed to appropriate district staff in an efficient
and effective manner;
• Supporting casework requests, meeting/corresponding with constituents and serving as
a liaison to federal agencies;
• Managing and supporting programs such as the office internship program, the
Congressional App Challenge, and Congressional Art Competition; and
• Assisting with constituent services and managing special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong
interpersonal skills and comfort in dealing directly with constituents. Qualified applicants
should be highly organized, self-starters who are able to multitask in fast-paced
environments and are eager to join a mission-oriented team.
Baltimore area/Maryland ties are strongly preferred.
