Description:
The Office of Congressman Paul Tonko (NY-20) seeks a Health Legislative Assistant/Policy Advisor in his Washington, D.C. office.
Responsibilities:
Developing and advancing a proactive health policy agenda; drafting, introducing, and advancing legislation; staffing the Member in Committee hearings and markups; coordinating Addiction, Treatment, and Recovery Caucus activities; drafting memos, talking points, and hearing questions; working closely with Committee staff; engaging with stakeholders and constituents; and advising the Member on activities occurring on the House Floor and in the Energy and Commerce Committee.
Qualifications:
At least two years of legislative experience in health policy, preferably including experience staffing a Member on a committee with jurisdiction over health issues. Candidates with commensurate experience in health policy off the Hill will also be considered. Previous professional experience in the areas of mental health, substance use, Alzheimer's or Parkinson's is highly valued.
