Description:
Representative Seth Magaziner seeks a Legislative Director in his Washington, DC office.
Responsibilities:
Working closely with the Member and Chief of Staff to develop the Member's legislative strategy and deliver results; Managing the legislative team and ensuring that legislative staff are positioned to support and implement the Member's legislative strategy; Building relationships and coalitions with Member offices and stakeholders to advance the Member's priorities through the legislative process; Advising and making recommendations to the the Member and Chief of Staff on floor votes and policy positions; Overseeing and advising on Committee business and activity, in conjunction with Legislative Assistants, to meet the Member's priorities; Working collaboratively with other members of the senior staff to ensure Office priorities and work across departments are in line with the Member's legislative goals and priorities; Providing input to the Communications Director to draft speeches, press releases, and other materials; Drafting and editing legislation, amendments, letters, memos, and talking points; Tracking and briefing the Member and Chief of Staff on developments in priority policy areas and House business; Training and supervising the legislative staff to ensure they comply with office policies, practices, and procedures.
Qualifications:
Strong legislative knowledge, knowledge of the House of Representatives, and management skills are a must.
