Description:
A moderate House Democrat seeks an experienced Legislative Assistant to manage a domestic policy portfolio, including budget and appropriations. The LA will work closely with the Legislative Director and Chief of Staff to develop and execute a coordinated legislative strategy on behalf of the Member.
Responsibilities:
The Legislative Assistant will partner directly with the Member and Legislative Director to advance the office's policy agenda. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and drafting legislation, engaging with stakeholders, preparing remarks, and talking points, providing vote recommendations, staffing meetings, drafting correspondence, and other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates will be able to maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, manage both short- and long-term projects simultaneously, bring bold policy ideas to the table, and think creatively to achieve policy objectives. We're looking for someone excited to work alongside an active Member and a dedicated team. Candidates should bring strong oral and written communication skills, solid organizational abilities, proven relationship- and project-management experience, critical thinking and sound judgment, a creative and solutions-oriented mindset, a growth mindset with openness to feedback, and a willingness to work flexible hours when the legislative schedule demands it.
