Description:
Congresswoman Veronica Escobar seeks a Legislative Director to lead the office's legislative operation and oversee the development and execution of her policy agenda.
Responsibilities:
The Legislative Director will play an essential leadership role in the office by working closely with the Chief of Staff in assisting with the formulation of the Member's policy and legislative strategy. The Legislative Director will also work with the Communications Director to ensure that the Member's legislative strategy is incorporated into the office's communications plan. This position will also serve as the primary liaison to the House Appropriations Committee, coordinating the full appropriations process, community outreach to local stakeholders, along with managing the legislative team's work.
Qualifications:
This position requires long hours, weekends, frequent travel to the district, along with strong leadership and deep knowledge of the legislative process, with a emphasis on the appropriations process. This is not a entry level position (minimum 5 years as a legislative staffer). Texas ties and Spanish language proficiency are a plus. Women and minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
