Description:
The Digital/Press Manager will work closely with and report to the Communications Director and play a pivotal role in supporting the creation and execution of the Congressman's digital and media strategy.
Responsibilities:
Design creative digital content including graphics and videos to communicate key messages and legislative priorities; Staff, photograph, and film the Congressman at scheduled events and meetings; Create compelling social media content that uplifts the Congressman's priorities; Maintain and update the Congressman's website, ensuring timely and relevant information is publicly available; Provide first drafts of press releases, speeches, talking points, and other written materials; Draft and send the weekly email newsletter to constituents, keeping them informed about Congressman's work and priorities; Collaborating with the Legislative and District teams to proactively identify and execute opportunities that elevate Congressman's work; Provide regular updates to the Communications Director and other senior staff about the effectiveness of digital outreach and make recommendations for improvements; Manage a DC based press intern; Support the Communications Director and other staff on other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
1-3 years experience in a communications role at a PR agency, political campaign, nonprofit, or similar relevant experience; Southern California ties and/or previous Hill experience preferred; Bachelor's Degree; Strong knowledge of social media platforms, website management software, and digital marketing tools; Great eye for digital design and a finger on the pulse of the ever changing media landscape; Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content for diverse audiences; Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all digital content and communications; Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks and long hours in a fast-paced environment.
