Description:
This role is responsible for shaping and advancing Occidental’s federal government relations strategy in support of the company’s business objectives.Develop and execute federal strategies that advance Oxy’s business objectives. Build and maintain relationships with Members of Congress, congressional staff, federal agency officials and other policymakers.Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of 10 years of experience working with congressional, agency or executive branch policymakers on legislative and regulatory issues.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute federal strategies that advance Oxy’s business objectives.
• Build and maintain relationships with Members of Congress, congressional staff, federal agency officials and other policymakers.
• Lead direct advocacy efforts on legislative, regulatory, tax, environmental and energy policy issues impacting the company.
• Monitor federal developments and communicate implications and recommended actions to internal stakeholders.
• Develop Oxy’s policy positions in partnership with business leaders, legal, regulatory and other internal stakeholders.
• Prepare and deliver briefing materials, policy analyses, comment letters, talking points and other advocacy materials.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience working with congressional, agency or executive branch policymakers on legislative and regulatory issues.
• Demonstrated experience developing and advancing public policy or lobbying strategies.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders, external stakeholders and government officials.
• Proven ability to build consensus and strong working relationships across a complex organization.
