Description:
Manage and lead litigation efforts, supervise legal fellows, and develop the legal fellowship program.Develop, litigate, and lead lawsuits; supervise legal fellows and develop fellowship program.10+ years of litigation experience, substantial lead-counsel experience, exceptional analytical and writing skills, persuasive oral advocate, self-starter, able to travel, experience training legal fellows, supervisory or managerial experience, strong interpersonal skills, committed to public interest work and separation of religion and government.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as lead counsel in church-state cases throughout the country
• Develop new cases by investigating facts and law, formulating strategies, and identifying plaintiffs
• Draft and edit amicus briefs and evaluate amicus opportunities
• Make public-speaking and media appearances
• Help determine strategic vision for AU's litigation program
• Collaborate across departments to support legal cases, policy work, and campaigns
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of litigation experience
• Substantial lead-counsel experience
• Exceptional analytical and writing skills
• Persuasive oral advocate
• Self-starter
• Able to travel
