Description:
NDWA is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join the Legal Department. Reporting to the General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel will work in a variety of areas, with a focus on providing advice, counsel, and representation in labor and employment matters.Works in a variety of areas, with a primary focus on handling labor and employment matters, such as personnel policy development, collective bargaining agreement compliance, labor grievance and arbitration processes, collective bargaining, employee relations matters, wage and hour counseling, reasonable accommodations, civil rights cases, internal investigations, and EEOC/DCR/PERC/DOL and other state and federal agency matters.J.D. from an accredited law school with 5+ years experience in labor and employment law, preferably with in-house experience.
Responsibilities:
• Works in a variety of areas, with a primary focus on handling labor and employment matters
• Provides advice and counsel to NDWA staff on a wide variety of legal issues
• Reviewing, developing and negotiating vendor contracts, MOUs, grant agreements and other agreements
• Assist with reviewing messaging and outward facing materials to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal law
• Assist with organizational risk management and crisis response planning
• Drafting policies, procedures, and guidelines on administrative operations
Qualifications:
• J.D. from an accredited law school
• 5+ years experience in labor and employment law
• Bar membership in good standing in the counsel's jurisdiction of residence
• Strong judgment and communications skills
• Ability to take initiative, assess priorities, handle multiple assignments, project manage, and meet deadlines
