Description:
FAH is seeking a highly adaptable policy leader who operates effectively in a small organization and brings strategic judgment and practical execution to a defined portfolio of health policy issues.Maintain expertise in federal statutes, regulations, and oversight frameworks governing health insurance markets, with particular emphasis on the Marketplace, Medicare Advantage, and health plan accountability.Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in law, public policy, health policy, economics, public health, or related field preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain expertise in federal statutes, regulations, and oversight frameworks governing health insurance markets, with particular emphasis on the Marketplace, Medicare Advantage, and health plan accountability. • Design and advance policy proposals—grounded in both quantitative and qualitative analysis—to improve insurer oversight and beneficiary protections, including drafting legislative language, regulatory comments, and policy communications. • Coordinate closely with FAH member hospitals, external consultants, research teams, government relations staff, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and effectiveness across initiatives. • Track and assess evolving market and policy trends, including insurer practices, Medicare Advantage growth, and federal and state oversight developments, and regularly brief FAH leadership and members on their implications. • Translate complex policy changes affecting the marketplace and Medicare Advantage into clear, actionable member resources, such as issue briefs, fact sheets, and FAQs. • Partner with FAH’s federal advocacy team to support congressional and administration-focused strategies that advance FAH’s policy objectives.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in law, public policy, health policy, economics, public health, or related field preferred. • 5–10 years of experience, preferably in the MA, commercial insurance, or health insurance coverage space. Strong understanding of payor and/or hospital revenue cycle, transaction standards, managed care contracting, and awareness of the state and federal laws that govern such transactions. • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation abilities. • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
