Description:
Counsel, Legislation and Government RelationsIdentify specific legislative and regulatory goals in various states. Engage with state and federal lobbyists to draft proposed legislation and regulations. Create coalitions with other stakeholders who share our vision for legislative and regulatory change.JD, with admission to a state bar. At least 5 years of relevant legal and/or government relations experience.
Responsibilities:
• Identify specific legislative and regulatory goals in various states. • Engage with state and federal lobbyists to draft proposed legislation and regulations. • Create coalitions with other stakeholders who share our vision for legislative and regulatory change. • Monitor relevant state and federal legislation and regulatory changes. • Work with business teams, including Product, Sales, and People Ops, to implement required legislative and regulatory changes after conducting a compliance risk analysis, including dollars-at-risk for noncompliance. • Provide legal advice to business teams across a range of issues and topics.
Qualifications:
• JD, with admission to a state bar. • At least 5 years of relevant legal and/or government relations experience (at a well-respected lobbying firm, law firm, as an in-house attorney, or in a high-level government role including legislative outreach). • At least 2 years of experience working in state or federal government. • Experience engaging legislators and government regulators. • Bias toward action and solving (not just spotting) problems. • Ability to take ownership of your work and manage projects independently.

The base salary range for this position is $190,000 – $220,000.
