Description:
Support the Reinsurance Association of America’s (RAA) federal advocacy and lobbying efforts before Congress, federal agencies, and other key stakeholders.Manage a portfolio of federal policy issues, lead assigned advocacy and lobbying initiatives, and contribute to RAA’s broader advocacy strategy and execution.Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, 3–5 years of full-time, professional Capitol Hill experience required.
Responsibilities:
• Engage with and represent RAA before congressional staff, federal agencies, and other stakeholders to advance RAA advocacy priorities. • Manage a portfolio of assigned federal legislative and regulatory issues, including developing and advancing advocacy strategies and leading specific advocacy initiatives. • Lead tracking and analysis of federal legislative, regulatory, and policy developments across the full issue portfolio, ensuring timely identification of relevant activity and coordination with team members. • Draft and contribute to timely communications and analysis, including reports, bulletins, newsletters, and advocacy materials (e.g., testimony, briefing memos, comment letters, legislative language, and talking points), in coordination with team members, as appropriate. • Attend federal and private-sector events, including hearings, briefings, regulatory meetings, and roundtables. • Support development and execution of RAA’s federal advocacy strategy, including leading assigned initiatives and coordinating meetings, events, fly-ins, briefings, and coalition activities.
Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of and experience working within federal legislative and regulatory processes. • Extensive Washington, DC-based network of congressional staff, federal agency officials, and key policy stakeholders. • Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, stay on top of fast-moving issues, and deliver high-quality work independently. • Demonstrated flexibility to meet job demands outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends. • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills. • Experience with federal insurance, housing, and appropriations policy issues.
