Description:
The Senior Communications Manager is a strategic thinker and agile communicator, energized by the unexpected and driven by a passion to address critical conservation goals.Develop and leverage internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of community, conservation, and policy goals by leading key outreach and informational initiatives.Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a closely related field required.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and leverage internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of community, conservation, and policy goals by leading key outreach and informational initiatives.
• Generate and execute ideas for improving engagement, increasing membership, converting members to email lists and advocates, and working with engagement staff on using paid advertising and other tools—and potentially additional channels—for increased communication and outreach.
• Develop advocacy-driven communication campaigns with measurable goals and outcomes for Audubon Delta priorities, deliverables, and objectives.
• Work with community and policy colleagues to develop messaging frameworks, reports, fact sheets, GIS StoryMaps, and talking points for crucial policy initiatives and strategic priorities.
• Draw upon various communication tools to produce content, including designing and producing written, audio, visual, and multimedia content and stories.
• Lead or support the development of press releases, editorials, media pitches, Action Alerts, and talking points that publicize and support Audubon Delta’s mission and goals.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a closely related field required.
• Minimum of 7 years of field experience in communications, marketing, policy, or government relations.
• Experience developing and implementing communication plans and strategies.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with demonstrated experience writing articles for newsletters, marketing literature, social media, and public relations materials.
• Digital communications experience, including social media engagement and website updating.
• Experience pitching and developing strong relationships with traditional and new media, using online communications tools to enhance and amplify an organization’s core messages.
