Description:
Responsible for developing, leading, coordinating and integrating all External Affairs initiatives, programs and communication activities.Develop and manage the implementation of short and long-term strategic initiatives. Interface with leadership of other departments within the company to apprise them of local government issues that have the potential to negatively impact operations or productivity and to provide leadership in resolving issues that could negatively impact customer satisfaction.Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, technical, public/governmental relations or related field and 12 or more years relevant experience.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and manage the implementation of short and long-term strategic initiatives.
• Interface with leadership of other departments within the company to apprise them of local government issues that have the potential to negatively impact operations or productivity and to provide leadership in resolving issues that could negatively impact customer satisfaction.
• Foster relationships with key local government leaders that support the execution of the company’s business strategy, including the maintenance and expansion of utility infrastructure.
• Assure the achievement of department objectives and the self-development of employees through the effective management of the Individual Performance Review Process.
• Direct the activities of an external affairs team dedicated to meeting the service and billing related needs of city, county and municipal accounts.
• Assure that the provisions of governmental agreements between the company and state and local entities are met through partnering with the leadership of other departments to fulfill constituent commitments.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, technical, public/governmental relations or related field
• 12 or more years relevant experience
• At least 5 years in a management/supervisory role
• At least five years of related work experience in government or external relations
• In lieu of degree, 15–20 years of relevant experience
