Senator Martin Heinrich (D-NM) seeks an Appropriations Aide based in Washington, DC. This position is responsible for identifying and executing initiatives to increase resources and solve problems in New Mexico by liaising with federal, state, and local agencies, and other persons, entities or groups to form effective relationships for the Senator and maximize the resources available to New Mexico. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities involve assisting with Appropriations Committee work, including Congressionally Directed Spending requests, tracking federal grants and awards relevant to constituents, and identifying and researching opportunities to support the New Mexican economy. This position is required to work in the office.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have knowledge of the legislative appropriations process, have outstanding written and oral communication skills, be service- and solutions-oriented, be highly organized, and take an innovative and collaborative approach with community and colleagues. Ties to New Mexico, fluency in Spanish, and familiarity with rural communities and Tribal governments are a significant plus.
