A Midwest Republican Senator and member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee seeks a legislative assistant to join their Washington, D.C. office to handle a portion of the commerce portfolio to include science, telecommunications and technology, and sports.
Responsibilities:
include preparing written and verbal briefs; reviewing legislation and spearheading legislative initiatives within their portfolio; and staffing and advising the Senator when pertinent. The LA will also work with stakeholders, and other interested parties across the state.
Candidates should possess a proactive approach to legislative work and be able to operate under tight deadlines. They should also be prompt, organized and detail oriented, display strong interpersonal skills, and possess excellent written and verbal communication abilities. This is not an entry level position. The most qualified applicants will have relevant experience and background.
