Midwestern Republican senator seeks a Legislative Assistant to manage the senator’s appropriations portfolio. This position will be responsible for drafting and managing the Appropriations Committee work in designated policy areas; drafting legislation and amendments; advising on legislative strategy; identifying opportunities for the senator to take leadership roles; coordinating with the rest of the legislative team on issue-specific items; coordinating with stakeholders; organizing the office’s appropriations process; overseeing the office’s congressionally directed spending submissions; preparing briefing materials; and providing support to the senator as needed. Ideal candidates will be organized, motivated, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Prior Capitol Hill experience, appropriations experience, and Midwestern ties are preferred.
