The Office of Senator Maria Cantwell is currently accepting applications for our paid summer press internship in Washington, D.C. This intern will work with the communications team under the guidance of the Communications Director. The team communicates with press and constituents about topics stretching across all issue portfolios, so an intern should be ready to quickly familiarize themselves with a broad range of subjects. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, tracking media coverage, drafting press materials and social media content, graphic design, assisting with organizing media events and prepping for hearings, and more. This position requires strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Washington state ties are strongly preferred. The internship will run from approximately July – September 2026 (with some flexibility depending on interns’ school schedules). This position is full-time (30-40hrs/week), pays $15/hour, and may include remote work on mornings and weekends.
Interested applicants should submit their resume. A cover letter is not required at this time. In lieu of a cover letter, candidates progressing to the next round will be asked to answer a few short questions. Please be sure to note in your resume any proficiency in foreign languages and/or any video editing or graphic design skills.
