Description:
Senator Edward J. Markey (D-MA), a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, seeks a Legislative Correspondent to cover Commerce Committee issues including technology, telecommunications, consumer protection, and transportation.
Responsibilities:
Primary duties include processing incoming mail and drafting outgoing constituent mail. Other duties may include meeting with stakeholders, conducting research, and providing assistance to legislative staff assigned to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for constituent mail in the climate, energy, and environment portfolios.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and highly motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Prior experience working on Capitol Hill and a public policy background are preferred. The salary for this position is $64,226 annually, with benefits that include a federal student loan repayment option.
